Jeanette - Old Bracelet
Описание
Written and produced by: Jeanette Ang Kiat Sing (3-2, 2025)
My song is based on my life. As I go through different phases, I meet new friends and grow apart from old ones. I wrote it thinking about my childhood best friends—two girls I grew up with in church and at kindergarten. We were close for nine years, but after I moved to America for a year, we slowly drifted apart. One of them even sent me a handmade bracelet for my birthday. COVID-19 and homeschooling made it harder to meet. I hope listeners can relate to this song and learn to appreciate the present and people around them.
[Verse 1]
I found my old bracelet you gave
Dusty and faded, but still in its place
Thought I had lost it a long time ago
But somehow I still kept it safe
We used to have those sleepovers
Whispering ghost stories ’til it was late
I knew you made every one of them up
But I still screamed just to see your grinning face
[Pre-chorus]
You’re not gone but you’re gone
You’re still here but you’re not
You’re still someone I care about
Hope you know that
[Chorus 1]
Maybe sometimes
Life just moves by
Before I get to cherish them
Before I get to hold on
Maybe sometimes
Life just moves by
Before I get to cherish them
Before I get to hold on to them
[Verse 2]
I still see your face through a screen
Laughing with people I’ve never seen
You look like you’re doing fine where you are
And I still smile, even if we’re far apart
We’ve both gone our separate ways
Different schools, different everyday
But sometimes I still think of you
Like it all just happened yesterday
[Pre-chorus]
You’re not gone but you’re gone
You’re still here but you’re not
You’re still someone I care about
Hope you know that
[Chorus 2]
Maybe sometimes
Life just moves right
And now I know to cherish it
And now I know to hold on
Maybe sometimes
Life just moves right
And now I know to cherish it
And now I know to hold on to it
