'Lacrimosa' from Mozart Requiem

Banbury Choral Society led by their conductor, Jonathan Kingston, performed Mozart 'Requiem' and Schubert 'Mass in G Major' in St Mary's Church, Banbury on Saturday 12th April 2025. Up to 280 audience attended the concert and the performers received a standing ovation.

They were accompanied by the Banbury Choral Society String & Percussion Ensemble with Charles Matthews on organ. The soloists were Angela Kazimierczuk (soprano), Lily Mo Browne (alto), Julian Harris (tenor), and Jonathan Brown (bass).

'Lacrimosa' is a well-loved piece played the world over and it was at this point in the Requiem that Mozart died whilst writing the first few bars of this moving section to the Requiem and it is said to reflect the tears that fell at his funeral.
